FAQs

Do I need to be able to ride a bike?

Yes.  All our training is carried out on local roads  in any weather and Day 4 will involve cycling 10 – 11 miles using busy roundabouts and traffic lights.

Must I work for a Local Authority?

No.  Many of our clients are self-employed cycle instructors or work for charities, Primary Care Trusts, schools etc.

I’ve never worked with children – can I still do cycle training?

Yes.  Your employer will probably insist that you undergo a full Criminal Records Bureau check.

Do I need to live near Darlington?

From the cost point-of-view it will be cheaper if you live within daily travelling distance (with bike!) of Darlington however we welcome clients from any location.

We may be able to arrange that your post-course accreditation can be carried out by a training provider nearer to your home to reduce your costs.

Do I need to bring a bike to the training?

Yes.  In special circumstances we may be able to lend you one but we strongly recommend that you use a familiar bike.

What should I wear?

Our outdoor training sessions last, on average, three to four hours. You will need suitable waterproofs and warm clothing depending on the season. We strongly recommend that you provide and wear a well-fitting cycle helmet. We provide hi-viz tabards which must be worn.
