Local Motion is a local initiative guided and supported by a wide range of national, regional and local partners.

The following organisations are supporting Local Motion:

Darlington Primary Care Trust

Working with the Local Motion team on promoting active travel (walking & cycling) as part of a healthy lifestyle, including Well@Work projects with AMEC and Supreme Care Homes.
 
Darlington Borough Council

Darlington Borough Council is providing essential management and financial expertise for Local Motion. 

Darlington Association on Disability

Representatives of DAD are working to ensure that all members of the community are able to take part in Local Motion.
 
Growing Older Living in Darlington

GOLD are advising the Local Motion team on how best to accommodate the needs of older people in Darlington. For example through the provision of easier to read bus timetables.

Department for Transport 

Recognising the potential to make a real difference to travel in Darlington, the Department for Transport is providing £3.24 Million to implement a wide range of measures supporting Local Motion.
The Department for Transport is supporting similar projects in Worcester (Choose How You Move) and Peterborough (Travelchoice).

Arriva

Arriva operate urban and inter- urban bus services in Darlington carrying around 5 Million passengers per year. Arriva have supported Local Motion through the provision of free bus tickets aimed at encouraging none bus users to try out the bus.

Stagecoach

Stagecoach operate a number of urban bus services in Darlington carrying around 4.5 Million passengers per year. Stagecoach have supported Local Motion through the provision of free bus tickets aimed at encouraging none bus users to try out the bus.

Sustrans

Sustrans is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, working on practical projects so people can choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment.

Sustrans run a number of key projects that have real local impact – imaginative yet practical solutions to transport, environmental and health challenges.

Sustrans are supporting Local Motion through advice on practical and educational measures to give children more travel options and help them develop good travel habits for the future.

Cycling England

An independent body set up to promote cycling by the Department for Transport in March 2005, Cycling England has awarded Darlington £1.5 Million to encourage local people to get on their bikes.

North East Chamber of Commerce

Through its member representatives the NECC provides advice and support to the Local Motion team.

Durham and Darlington Acute Health Trust

The Durham and Darlington Acute Health Trust are supporting Local Motion through the work of Travel Plan Officer based at the Darlington Memorial hospital.
 
Bikesport

An independent cycle retail and repair shop located in Darlington Town Centre, Bike Sport have provided free bikes and staff time in support of Local Motion.

Iron Horse Cyclery

An independent cycle retail and repair shop located in Darlington Town Centre, Iron Horse Cyclery have provided free bikes and staff time in support of Local Motion.
