Groundwork North East is running a series of walking activities in the Darlington area, ranging from fun family walks to lunchtime walks for local businesses. This programme is constantly evolving so please do check back for future updates.

Group walk leaders

Do you have a passion for walking that you'd like to share with other? We are working with Sustrans to provide walk leader training for member of the public, so they can lead their own groups and get even more people walking!

Group walking activities

Anyone can get involved in walking and helping to keep our walking routes clear of litter and safe for people to use is a great way to give something back.

Thursday 23 February, 11am & 1pm, South Park, Darlington

Come and join us during half term and explore the woodlands of South Park with fun activities and games. Activities are recommended for children aged between 5 and 11 and will last for 1 hour. £2.00 per child, booking is essential.

Tuesday 28 February, 12-4pm, George Stevenson Drive, Darlington

George Stevenson drive leads from West Park right over to Branksome and is a very well used walk way in Darlington. We need your help to improve this for the general public. 

Tuesday 14 March, 12-4pm, North Park, Darlington

Friends of North Park need your help to plant trees they are always striving to improve the park but do not have the man power. They would love it if you would volunteer and plant trees along the walkway in the park. 

Tuesday 21 March, 12-4pm, Henry Street, Darlington

Improving an iconic walkway that leads into the town centre, and through the five arches bridge.
