What is stopping women cycling? ◾Don't boast of your long rides ◾Don't cultivate a "bicycle face" ◾Don't refuse assistance up a hill Just some of the advice given to female cyclists just over 100 years ago. We'll be chatting to Gary Philipson about getting more women out of cars and onto bikes on BBC Tees between 4 and 6pm this evening. An interesting read from the BBC's website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-41737483 View Post
Vicki’s pledge pays off
Vicki Langford, a library officer from Eaglescliffe, got more than she bargained for when she pledged to walk more often as part of Local Motion’s campaign to turn rush hour into happy hour for the commuters of Teesside. Vicki was selected as the lucky winner of the Ipad Mini!
We caught up with her at work to ask her why she decided to take the plunge…
“Since I don’t drive, I’m always interested finding out about public transport and how I can get around without relying on my partner for lifts so I decided to pledge to walk more often.
The supermarket is only a mile away so it’s walkable and with a rucksack I can easily get my shopping home again. I make it part of my exercise routine and I get fresh air and save money as well. And I’ve got an Ipad Mini as well so I’m even more pleased with my decision!”
